Proverbs 19:24

24A lazy man buries his hand in the bowl,
And will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
-Proverbs 19:24

This proverb carries an air of mockery to it toward the sluggard. As one might jest in saying some one is too overfed to be able to lift a fork to their mouth, so does this proverb say something similar. Laziness brings about such a reputation that such an individual cannot even care for their own basic necessities. How much more so can they not properly care for anything else? Consider this even in regard to our spiritual dining. You may sit down and open your bible. Your hand is in the bowl, so to speak. However, once you have done so, you become distracted or just cannot bring yourself to properly study or even read. Your mind wanders until you're comfortable with the time you've spent with your hand in the bowl, and then you move along. Let us not be lazy with how we conduct ourselves. Instead, let us be diligent individuals.
