Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker, Strong drink is a brawler,
And whoever is led astray by it is not wise.

The question comes up and around Christian circles regularly as to whether or not drinking is a sin. While it is settled quickly by Scripture that drinking in it of itself is not a sin, there is a lot of question as to how one should partake, or even if they should at all. Without a doubt, drunkenness is a sin. Likewise, even if you are not getting drunk but you are addicted to it, that is a sin. We are taught as believers that we are not to be dominated by anything. We ought to have self control in all things. Do not be led astray by that which is intoxicating. Though we live in a world and culture that exalts it, stand above that. Do not be filled with drink, but be filled by the Spirit of the Living God.
