Proverbs 20:17

Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man,
But afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel.
-Proverbs 20:17

There is a reality that sin is enticing at first. It promises a sweet reward for a moment of gratification. Consider the end. Though it may be sweet now, what it leaves you with is detriment and sorrow. The end of sin is death. Bread acquired by stealing may be sweet, but it will leave the man scrounging at the dirt in the end. Just as Paul encourages in Ephesians, let the man who stole instead work and provide for the poor. Replace that enticing sin with righteous living. Then the earned wages may invest in more than one self. It may have eternal benefit. Flee the fleeting desires of sin and walk in righteousness.
