Proverbs 20:20

Whoever curses his father or his mother,
His lamp will be put out in deep darkness.
-Proverbs 20:20

There is a tremendous concern for those who dishonor their mother and father. The pattern of life that we see usually with those who walk in such a way is that they dishonor all authority. The first authority one has in their lives are their parents. What does it say to the individual who curses the one who fed and nourished them and brought them up? Indeed, the judgment given to them is just.

Something that I believe that needs to be said is that there are wicked people out there who become wicked parents. Some of us may have come from those. It is not wrong to call out or recognize abuse. Scriptures like these do not mean that our parents are perfect. It does not mean that we have to pretend they are perfect. Instead, what it means is that we should conduct ourselves honorably concerning them. Wisdom is a necessity in navigating people. So let us pray and ask the Lord for wisdom concerning our parents.
