Proverbs 20:29

29The glory of young men is their strength,
And the splendor of old men is their gray head.
-Proverbs 20:29

I pray that we can learn to honor age appropriately as Scripture does. There always seems to be complaint one way or another. The old men mock the young and the young men mock the old. The young men are ashamed of their youth and the old men ashamed of their age. The question we should ask is, "Does Scripture view age the same way we do?" There is a measure of honor given to each that we ought to give. I pray that we may grow in this area and further bridge that gap between generations. With how divided we already are as a people, we hardly need age to be another point of contention. The old men are to teach the young men, and the young men care for the old. Without that, we are all left to our own devices. The end of it is where we are now as a people. May the Lord soften our hearts and lead us in humility with one another.
