Proverbs 21:17

17He who loves pleasure will be a poor man;
He who loves wine and oil will not be rich.
-Proverbs 21:17

Frivolity brings one man after another to their knees. The constant pursuit of pleasure leads to poor life decisions that can keep a man in poverty. They may spend more on frivolous things. They may spend their time in carousing or simple entertainment instead of building up necessary skills to progress further. Even more so, we find that those that pursue pleasure are spiritually weak as well. This kind of pleasure is found in the things of this world. The true pleasure of the believer is found in the Lord. In this, we find ourselves to be spiritually rich. Let us pursue what truly matters instead of the things of this world that are so quickly fading away. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
