Proverbs 22:7

7The rich rules over the poor,
And the borrower is servant to the lender.
-Proverbs 22:7

This is a fact of life and one that most of us are very well aware of in our modern day. The rich will continue to find themselves on top while the poor continue to dwell in the bottom. When the poor is in need and the rich supply, the borrower is servant to the lender. This is simply a stated fact. This passage is not giving a moral argument. So what should we make of this? Most certainly, as much as within your ability, it would be good to keep yourself from debt. Be wise with what you have and how you steward. If you are in the position in which you would be the lender, be wise to whom you lend to and be gracious to the one you lend to. In all of these things, let us submit ourselves to the Lord that we would make wise choices with what we have.
