Proverbs 22:8
8He who sows iniquity will reap sorrow,
And the rod of his anger will fail.
-Proverbs 22:8
It is wisdom to consider the result of the actions you take. Warning labels are a fantastic example of needing to recognize the effect of what you are partaking in. Hot coffee is hot. Therefore, you may burn yourself on it. Electrical appliances should be handled carefully around water or you may electrocute yourself. Iniquity will lead to sorrow and death. For most things we consider these warnings trivial, but we know its out there for someone who just might mess it up. Others we would do well to read with a little more intent. Sin is one of those that I believe we should understand the result of all the more. Sin disrupts and takes away from us. It brings separation between man and God. It is the antithesis of what God designed for mankind to be good. If it is joy and peace we seek, why do we search for it in places that further divide us from the source of joy and peace? You will not find it in this world. You may have a temporary reprieve, but at the end of it, you will be left to sorrow. Pursuing after the Lord may be hard to do, but the end is everlasting joy. So walk in obedience to the Lord. Sow righteousness and reap life.
And the rod of his anger will fail.
