Proverbs 22:13

13The lazy man says, “There is a lion outside!
I shall be slain in the streets!”
-Proverbs 22:13

It is amazing the effort that many will go to in order to excuse themselves in poor practices. In this case, the lazy man justifies being at home instead of working because going outside might be dangerous. It would be just as ridiculous in those times as it is for us today to say the same thing. "I need to stay home because I might trip and hit my head if I walk outside!" I am sure we have all had our moments of poor excuses. Let us not excuse detrimental behaviors. Examine yourself in light of the word of God and see if there is anything out of place. Straighten that out and walk sincerely before the Lord. Do not lie down in laziness. Instead, stand firm and walk forward in righteousness. Rather than giving yourself every excuse for sin, give yourself every excuse to walk in righteousness.
