Proverbs 22:17-21
17Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise,
And apply your heart to my knowledge;
18For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you;
Let them all be fixed upon your lips,
19So that your trust may be in the Lord;
I have instructed you today, even you.
20Have I not written to you excellent things
Of counsels and knowledge,
21That I may make you know the certainty of the words of truth,
That you may answer words of truth
To those who send to you?
-Proverbs 22:17-21
We have many ways of describing intent listening. Incline your ear. You should be sitting on the edge of your seat to take in these words of wisdom. Remembering the reality that wisdom has such a high value, we should be all the more eager to jump right in and take heed to these words of wisdom. We should take hold of them as treasure. We would all hold a dollar bill a lot looser than a check for a million dollars. That check we would be careful to preserve and take care of until it is time to cash it in. The dollar bill would hardly be much of a disappointment if we misplaced or lost. What is wisdom to you? Do you hold on to it tightly so that when the time is right you may use it? Or is it the opposite? Take heed to wisdom and the instruction you receive and you will be well off.
