Proverbs 22:22-23
22Do not rob the poor because he is poor,
Nor oppress the afflicted at the gate;
23For the Lord will plead their cause,
And plunder the soul of those who plunder them.
-Proverbs 22:22-23
The Lord is the defender of the poor, the fatherless, and the widow. He cares for those who are broken and hurting. He exalts those who are lowly. If the Lord is for them and fights for their cause, how shall we stand before Him having torn them down? Let us have compassion on those who are in need. Let us help come alongside them and lift them up as the Lord does. Otherwise, we run the risk of opposing the Lord, and thus being opposed by Him.
