Proverbs 22:24-25

24Make no friendship with an angry man,
And with a furious man do not go,
25Lest you learn his ways
And set a snare for your soul.
-Proverbs 22:24-25

I taught this when I was a youth pastor. I teach it now to the Young Adults. It is not a question of whether or not we are influenced. It is a question of who or what we are influenced by. For one who is endowed with anger, you may learn his ways and begin walking in his path. Anger can very much so become a dominating trait. It can rule over every area of your life and infect your friendships, relationships and family. We must learn to die to ourselves in anger. Part of that is not joining ourselves to one who is angry. Entrust yourself to the Lord in all things. Let Him guide and direct you in your relationships. If anger is something that you struggle with, spend intentional time with the Lord in prayer and in quiet. Take time in solitude and delight in the Lord.
