Proverbs 22:28

28Do not remove the ancient landmark
Which your fathers have set.
-Proverbs 22:28

It was a practice in ancient times to lay a line of stones to highlight the borders of one's land. What some crafty individuals would do is move or remove that line to claim more land for themselves. The short of this passage is an instruction to not cheat others out of what is theirs. In our modern practice, we do not have the same means of cheating one another, but that does not mean the principle cannot apply to us as well. In a business sense, the application is apparent. In a personal sense, it may seem more obscure, but the reality remains the same. Be content with what it is that you have. Do not grow in covetousness and long for what another has. Find your contentment in the Lord.
