Proverbs 23:12

12Apply your heart to instruction,
And your ears to words of knowledge.
-Proverbs 23:12

We cannot fall for the trap that knowledge and wisdom will come to us naturally. We must be those that go after it. When you receive instruction, how do you navigate it? Are you as I was in my youth? I would act like I already knew it, dismiss the instruction and go about my way frustratedly trying to figure out how to do the thing I was given instruction on. Or do you receive instruction, take it to heart, and learn from it? This is the attitude of one who is wise. We cannot become prideful in our own understanding that we dismiss the idea of further applying ourselves to it. Even if you are seasoned in the Word and masterful at articulating it, that does not mean you cannot receive instruction. Apply yourself to instruction and growing in knowledge.
