Proverbs 23:17-18
17Do not let your heart envy sinners,
But be zealous for the fear of the Lord all the day;
18For surely there is a hereafter,
And your hope will not be cut off.

What occupies our drive and motivation is a precious space in the sight of the Lord. When we are driven by envy for what a sinner may have, whether that be material, position, or otherwise, it drives us to sinful paths. At the very least, if it doesn't drive us to sin, it does drive us to a lack of contentment and thankfulness to the Lord. Rather than letting envy be our passion, let us be zealous for the fear of the Lord. Long to grow in the fear of the Lord and of the knowledge of God. When you do this, instead of discontentment and ungratefulness, you will be filled with praise and the ability to rejoice no matter the circumstance. The Lord will reward you in due time as you walk faithfully to Him.
