Proverbs 24:24-25
24 He who says to the wicked, “You are righteous,”
Him the people will curse;
Nations will abhor him.
25 But those who rebuke the wicked will have delight,
And a good blessing will come upon them.
-Proverbs 24:24-25
Woe to the man who calls good bad and bad good. It is a shameful thing to call that which is wicked righteous. Similarly, it is shameful to call that which is righteous wicked. I find that many within the church struggle more with the latter. We are quick to call anything that is distasteful to us wicked or wrong. The problem here is the same as calling something wicked righteous. We assume the authority to dictate whether something is right or wrong. The Lord is the only One with the prerogative to establish holiness. He is the only One who has the authority to dictate whether something ought to be called good or bad, righteous or wicked. When we come into agreement with the Lord concerning what He calls righteous and wicked, we are blessed, for our senses are exercised to discern both good and evil. So let us be invested in the word of God that we might know and understand how He views the world around us. Let us grow to maturity in these things.
