Psalm 6

    1      O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger,
    Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure.
    2      Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak;
    O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
    3      My soul also is greatly troubled;
    But You, O LORD—how long?

    4      Return, O LORD, deliver me!
    Oh, save me for Your mercies’ sake!
    5      For in death there is no remembrance of You;
    In the grave who will give You thanks?

    6      I am weary with my groaning;
    All night I make my bed swim;
    I drench my couch with my tears.
    7      My eye wastes away because of grief;
    It grows old because of all my enemies.

    8      Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity;
    For the LORD has heard the voice of my weeping.
    9      The LORD has heard my supplication;
    The LORD will receive my prayer.
    10      Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled;
    Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly.
Psalm 6

Oh what cause for praise! Oh what reason to rejoice! Do you see how wonderfully you have been delivered? Do you see how wonderful the mercy of the Lord is?

As we being once sinners and enemies of the Lord, turning to the Lord in repentance this was the cry of our heart. We sat before the Lord in anger and were weak, yet have been delivered.

Still grief is a reality many of us are all too well acquainted with. Being weary and bearing grief is not sinful in itself. In fact many of those things that cause us to grieve are very real. Whether you have grieved, are grieving, or will yet grieve, I want us to look upon the attitude that David has here.

The Lord hears your weeping. He hears your supplication and receives your prayers. He has victory set before you as those who trust in Him. Recognize how greatly it is that you have been delivered and yearn earnestly that you would continue to see that. The Lord is not passive nor is He slow. Continue to trust in Him as your Counselor and Deliverer.
