Proverbs 31:24

24      She makes linen garments and sells them,
    And supplies sashes for the merchants.
-Proverbs 31:24

As we see the chiastic structure of this proverb, we see that this verse reflects verse 22 which states,

22      She makes tapestry for herself;
    Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
-Proverbs 31:22

The linen clothing that is fit to sell would be luxurious, as would the sashes, or belts, be. This has less to do with the making of money, and more with the supplying of something worthwhile. Tattered garments would not make well for the markets, but freshly made linen would be seen in high regard. Consider the judgment on Jerusalem in Isaiah 3,

18 In that day the Lord will take away the finery of the anklets, the headbands, and the crescents; 19 the pendants, the bracelets, and the scarves; 20 the headdresses, the armlets, the sashes, the perfume boxes, and the amulets; 21 the signet rings and nose rings; 22 the festal robes, the mantles, the cloaks, and the handbags; 23 the mirrors, the linen garments, the turbans, and the veils.
-Isaiah 3:18-23

All of the luxuries were stripped from them. Why are these highlighted? They are all valuable to the reader. The garments that the church has are of high value. We have the garments of salvation. While we are not selling these and trying to make money off of them, it is fit for us to distribute. We need to understand the value of what we have as believers. That will lead us with all the more fervor and zeal to share that with those around us.
