Psalm 14

1      The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.”
    They are corrupt,
    They have done abominable works,
There is none who does good.
2      The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men,
To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.
3      They have all turned aside,
    They have together become corrupt;
There is none who does good,
    No, not one.

4      Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge,
Who eat up my people as they eat bread,
And do not call on the LORD?
5      There they are in great fear,
For God is with the generation of the righteous.
6      You shame the counsel of the poor,
But the LORD is his refuge.

7      Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion!
When the LORD brings back the captivity of His people,
Let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.
-Psalm 14

The epitome of foolishness is to say there is no God. To anyone who at least confesses there being existence of a god is significantly more wise than one who would say there is not. To those who would say there is none, see what Scripture has to say of them. They are corrupt, working abominable works, and does no good. There is no basis for morality and no care to walk in any form of righteousness.

The Lord looks upon this in the children of men and recognizes that none has done good and none has pursued the Lord. He looks upon them and questions their knowledge and then calls upon the idiocy of what their rebellion means. They abide in something fearful, the wrath of God. Walking in foolishness, lack of knowledge, and in opposition to the Lord they are then opposed by God. For God walks with the generation of the righteous. While the foolish oppress, the Lord is a refuge and a defender of His people.

So let us echo the final verse in this Psalm recognizing that salvation has in fact come through Jesus! Rejoice as the foolish that oppress and stand against the Lord can do nothing to us who have already died to ourselves. We live in Jesus and nothing can take that away from us. The Lord stands as a refuge for you as you stand in Him. Rejoice in the Lord always.
