Psalm 97:10-12

10You who love the Lord, hate evil!
He preserves the souls of His saints;
He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
11Light is sown for the righteous,
And gladness for the upright in heart.
12Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous,
And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.
-Psalm 97:10-12

We are to hate even the garment defiled by the flesh. We should have no part in wickedness at all. Instead, we are called to be pure. What does it mean to be pure? It means that we are unalloyed with the world. There is no mixture. The idea behind purifying metals is to distinguish it from the other materials it is conjoined too. The more mixture there is, the less value it would have. We are not to be mixed with the world, but pure before the Lord.

The Lord rewards a pure heart. Jesus says in the Beatitudes,

"Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they shall see God."
-Matt. 5:8

As believers, our pursuit is to see God! This is a major reward! In that we have gladness and joy. We are preserved and delivered in Him. So do not be intermixed with the world. Be pure before the Lord.
