Psalm 140:1-5

1Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men;
Preserve me from violent men,
2Who plan evil things in their hearts;
They continually gather together for war.
3They sharpen their tongues like a serpent;
The poison of asps is under their lips.
Selah
4Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked;
Preserve me from violent men,
Who have purposed to make my steps stumble.
5The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords;
They have spread a net by the wayside;
They have set traps for me.
-Psalm 140:1-5

We live in a very constant spiritual warfare. Understanding that fact, whenever I see prayers of deliverance and prayers of victory, I pay attention. Any individual who is in war does not live passively but walks circumspectly. To not prepare ourselves and cry out to the Lord is to leave ourselves in a vulnerable position. If we are not in communication with our Commander and Chief, we miss direction and instruction. I think of 2 Timothy 2:3-4 which says,

"3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. 4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier."

We are to be concerned with what He is concerned about. We are to walk circumspectly as wise individuals knowing that now it is high time to awake out of slumber. Do not get caught out while in warfare. Be diligent in the way you live. Be diligent in approaching the Lord.
