Psalm 141:3

3Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth;
Keep watch over the door of my lips.
-Psalm 141:3

I think every believer needs to add this verse to their arsenal of memorized and continuously revisited verses. Are you aware that we will be judged for the things we say? We will be judged for every idle word that proceeds from our mouth. The swearing, the lying, the crass jokes and the crude humor will all be called into question. The gossip that spreads and the slander that degrades one another will all be brought into view. How will you stand on that day on the basis of words alone? Praise the Lord for the cleansing blood of Jesus, for I am certain that we all would fall incredibly short in that regard. We cannot allow ourselves to be dismissive with words in the body of Christ. We must be diligent to have a guard set over our mouths. Read through James and see what he says concerning this matter. It is vital that we set ourselves above reproach even in the conduct of our lips.
