Psalm 144:9-10

9I will sing a new song to You, O God;
On a harp of ten strings I will sing praises to You,
10The One who gives salvation to kings,
Who delivers David His servant
From the deadly sword.
-Psalm 144:9-10

There is a beautiful thing about singing a new song to the Lord. As this is spoken, it is not just singing a new song about something that the Lord has done. It is about singing a new song because of the new work that the Lord has accomplished. What would've become of the Song of Moses had the Lord not delivered His people from the Egyptians? What about the Song of Deborah, if the Lord had not been faithful in delivering His people? What of all the Psalms if the Lord had not been active in the life of the psalmists? The reason for a new song is because the Lord is living and active. The cause we have for new songs today is no difference. As the Lord impresses upon us the wonders of His love, or the mystery of His salvation to us, we rejoice in song and praise! The question is, can we see what the Lord is doing today enough that we can rejoice in with new songs to the Lord? Can we utter new praises to the Lord for the work He is accomplishing in our lives? I pray we have eyes to see the wonders of God and how He works that we might give fresh praise. Amen.
