Proverbs 31:18

18She perceives that her merchandise is good,
And her lamp does not go out by night.
-Proverbs 31:18

That which we have in the Lord is indeed good. And we are those that are responsible, who trim their wicks and have oil in our lamps that in the night we can continue to shine. You see, it is the light of Christ that is in us that is fueled by the Spirit of God. Consider the Psalmist as it says,

"105Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path."
-Psalm 119:105

Jesus is the Word, who is to illuminate. Oil often typifies of the Spirit of God. For a lamp to be lit, it required oil to fill it. When the night comes, we ought to still have the illumination of the Spirit who, "will guide you into all truth" (John 16:13). With the Word in our hearts and the Spirit giving illumination to it, we as believers continue to shine. We will not be overcome by the darkness, for we are of the light.
