Proverbs 25:6-7

6Do not exalt yourself in the presence of the king,
And do not stand in the place of the great;
7For it is better that he say to you,
“Come up here,”
Than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince,
Whom your eyes have seen.
-Proverbs 25:6-7

In a world of entertainment, consider what a great drama this makes. An arrogant man, puffed up in pride positions himself high before a king, only to be demoted hastily by the king. Let us not think more highly of ourselves than we ought to think. This does not mean that we just berate ourselves and put ourselves down. Rather, it means that we view ourselves in right perspective before our King. No matter how high we may ascend, there is One that we are measured before. Humble yourself before Him and allow Him to exalt you. Do not boast of your strengths and how incredible you are. Let others take care of that. Your focus should be on one thing alone and that is pleasing the Lord. This will allow you to humble yourself continually.
