Proverbs 27:7

7A satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb,
But to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
-Proverbs 27:7

There are so many ways in which we can take this. In a literal sense, one who has everything already finds no more satisfaction in gaining more. But the one who has not, anything they get will be a treat. Consider it this way. If you ate a full 3-course meal and were stuffed beyond stuffed, the thought alone of eating more is enough to turn you away. But for the man who has been starved, literally any substance sounds amazing.

Now in a spiritual sense, one who has satisfaction in the Lord has no need for the "sweetness" of the things of this world. We loath that which the world throws at us. However, for those who are desperate and searching, anything sounds good. They run to and fro taking whatever they can and putting it into their mouths. They are like newborn babes, consuming anything that is given them.

Let us find our satisfaction in the Lord. What need would we have beyond Him? Surely there is nothing this world can provide that cannot be provided by our Father in heaven. Humble yourself before Him and make your requests known to Him. Delight in Him above all.
