Proverbs 27:15-16

15A continual dripping on a very rainy day
And a contentious woman are alike;
16Whoever restrains her restrains the wind,
And grasps oil with his right hand.
-Proverbs 27:15-16

Consider a husband and wife being together. One time after another the wife nags at her husband. "You didn't do this. You didn't do that. You need to do this. Don't forget about that." On the first drop it didn't cause much cause for concern. Even a dozen drops in, you've hardly paid any mind to it. But when it is continual and unrelenting it gives pause. A house with continual dripping on a rainy day is great cause for concern. It can really cause a lot of damage. So the same with constant nagging in the household. This principle can be applied to both husbands and wives.

Trying to cause the nagging spouse to stop is often a fruitless endeavor. Verse 16 highlights that it is like restraining the wind or grasping oil. It slips right from you. Pray for your spouse. Learn to walk in love in that capacity. Be a godly example. Let the Lord use that season to refine you. Draw nearer to Him.
