Proverbs 28:4

4      Those who forsake the law praise the wicked,
But such as keep the law contend with them.
-Proverbs 28:4

There have unfortunately been many times throughout my life where I have seen symptoms of this very thing in my life. No I was not delighting in the wicked themselves, but I was most definitely delighting in various forms of wickedness. Even separate from deliberate sin, I had my delight in worldly music that evidently opposed God. I laughed at coarse jokes. I enjoyed ungodly shows and made excuses as to why it was okay for me to watch them. When I was walking apart from the word of God, such was my state. However, as I drew nearer to the Lord and grew in the understanding of His word, these things began to depart from me. The word of God began to challenge these being in my life. And then I contended with them. By the mercy of God, those things departed from me. The praise that exalted that which was wicked ceased and instead I was filled with praise for the Lord. Let us depart from wickedness and hold fast to righteousness. Delight yourself, not in the things of the world, but in the Lord your God.
