Proverbs 27:8

8Like a bird that wanders from its nest
Is a man who wanders from his place.
-Proverbs 27:8

What does a bird leave behind when they leave their nest? Their security, their comfort, their provision, and their belonging are all left behind. This is the same for a man who leaves for the same. I think the question is naturally beckoned, what is our place? We understand that we are strangers and foreigners here on earth. Our belonging, our place, is with the Lord and among His saints. When we stray from the Lord and we neglect the gathering together, we leave our security. We then leave our comfort. We leave provision. We leave community. We leave that which sustains us. We must be diligent to remain in the presence of the Lord and in the fellowship of the saints. Neglecting it puts us in the same danger as a bird who has left all the same. They are doomed to fail, and so would we be.
