Proverbs 28:22

22A man with an evil eye hastens after riches,
And does not consider that poverty will come upon him.
-Proverbs 28:22

Accompanying the lesson of patience is a lesson about intent. It is from the depths of our heart that we act in the ways we do. It is not a righteous man who hastens after riches, but a man with an evil eye. The reality of the lesson that comes from reaping what you sow is that those who understand will change their investment. Those who do not understand fail to see the consequences of what they invest in. Riches will be here today and gone tomorrow. It is a short standing goal. I was once told by a smart man that I should have a solid 5 year plan for my future and work towards it. I was told by a wise man that I should have a solid 500 year plan for my future and work towards that. You may live well here and now, bearing wealth and status. What does that accomplish in the long run? It will all fade. So be wise in your conduct and hasten after the Lord.
