Proverbs 29:1

He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck,
Will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.
-Proverbs 29:1

The stiff-necked people are those endowed with pride. They are stubborn and relentless in going their own way. Scripture compares such people to a stiff-necked donkey. They are stubborn in every way and only follow their own path. Even with correction and rebuke, they refuse to heed instruction. As such, their path leads to sudden destruction and one that will be catastrophic to them. Do we see how dangerous pride can be? Even if you are not in agreement with the rebuke given to you, humbly pray through it and consider it sincerely. You may be surprised and find that the thing you were wanting to resist was actually exactly what was needed. May the Lord guide you in receiving rebuke or correction. Do not allow your pride to triumph.
