Proverbs 25:23

23The north wind brings forth rain,
And a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.
-Proverbs 25:23

There is a lot of wisdom in recognizing the patterns on how things usually work. The north wind brings forth rain. Similarly, what does a backbiting tongue bring? It brings an angry countenance. Should you slander, gossip, or make poor remarks against an individual, you should not be surprised at their angered response. Somehow, we are still taken off guard when we have wronged another individual. Many of us fight to prove ourselves in the right, as though we actually have a leg to stand on. Let us be swift to repent if we have wronged an individual. Do not seek simply to prove your point. Seek to make it right.
