Proverbs 25:25
25As cold water to a weary soul,
So is good news from a far country.

I think we can often underestimate the power that good news can bring to an individual. It is so nourishing and relieving, especially in a world where all we here about is bad. I recently had a conversation with someone, an elderly gentleman, who was talking about how amazing it was to be older. I had to laugh as I have rarely ever heard any positive about growing in age. He admitted the downsides of course, the aches and pains. But he still rejoiced in aging. It was refreshing to hear after the vast majority offers only complaint to the younger generations. The good news was good!
This is a reality that we must seek to grasp diligently. Offer encouragement to those around you! Offer a smile or a hug. Share about what is going well in life and help others highlight that in their lives too. Call your family members and offer them good news that they could rejoice in too. It will help refresh them.
