Proverbs 25:27

27It is not good to eat much honey;
So to seek one’s own glory is not glory.
-Proverbs 25:27

There is a lot of irony in how we like to treat ourselves. When we get sad or just want to feel good, we go and get ourselves a nice tub of ice cream. Sometimes, we just really want to feel good and so we keep eating it and keep eating it and keep eating it. In our desire to make ourselves feel good, we end up feeling the opposite. So is the same for the one who seeks their own glory. They want glory and to be celebrated and so they go and promote themselves. This only amounts to people shying away from them and they are left without glory. It is not glorious to exalt oneself. Humble yourself and view yourself in a right way. Let others uplift and exalt you. Above all, let the Lord be the One to exalt you. Prayerfully view yourself through His lens. This will keep you from seeing yourself more highly than you ought.
