Proverbs 26:1
As snow in summer and rain in harvest,
So honor is not fitting for a fool.
-Proverbs 26:1
Consider for a moment how it would be if it had snowed all throughout our summer. Think of the damage that would be done for torrential rains in harvest times. It is unproductive and can cause measures of chaos to ensue. So the same it would be to honor a fool. This is one of those things that we need to be certain that we are measuring foolishness by a biblical standard. Should we not, there are many things in our modern culture that Scripture would call foolishness that it does not. The opposite is also true. There are many things that are not called foolishness that actually are. If we judge by the wrong standard, we may find ourselves honoring those that do not honor God for such godless behavior. Consider the damage that may occur if those who are to hold to a high moral standard degrade that standard by honoring foolishness. Let us search the Word of God that we would know that which is right to honor, and let us then go forth in honoring that. As we honor God in His righteousness, He will honor us as well.
So honor is not fitting for a fool.
