Proverbs 26:3

3A whip for the horse,
A bridle for the donkey,
And a rod for the fool’s back.
-Proverbs 26:3

What is the purpose of a whip for a horse? How about a bridle for a donkey? Is it not to correct, instruct, and guide those creatures? Similarly, the fool is to undergo correction that he may take a right path. This is the difficulty that many of us will face as we continue to grow in wisdom. Foolishness is stubborn, and stubbornness needs to be broken in order for wisdom to come and take its place. This becomes increasingly difficult to do the longer foolishness is allowed to dwell in foolishness. If you see foolish ways in your life, do not linger, but take haste and deal with it. Take what steps you need to take to eradicate that. If you see foolishness in another's life, in wisdom and love, confront such things that they may be restored to righteousness. It is necessary for foolishness to be dealt with so that wisdom may thrive.
