Proverbs 26:6
6He who sends a message by the hand of a fool
Cuts off his own feet and drinks violence.
-Proverbs 26:6
Have you ever heard that you need to be careful who you trust? The bible reinforces that message. Entrusting a task to a fool is foolishness in it of itself. To deliver a message in the time this was written is to send the message by an individual. Sending a letter with a fool is akin to removing your own feet, your own ability to escape, and being engulfed by violence. This is drastic imagery but it goes to show how untrustworthy a fool truly is. Now let us consider this from the perspective of the most important message to share: the gospel.
It is an unfortunate reality that many churches have instituted and allowed foolish teachers to teach and continue to. We allow the most delicate message to be handled by those that have little to no care for it and it shows up in our churches. It seems that more and more messages are motivational speeches with Scripture sprinkled in. There is a lack of the power of God and substance in what is spoken. People leave trusting their own flesh more and are empowered for nothing more than breathing air with a little more pride. They are not transformed for the sake of the living God. They are not out winning souls. They are clouds without water. They are witnesses without a message of substance. It is the right and the responsibility of the believer to demand more from the pulpit. Let us not deliver this message into the hands and responsibility of the fool.
