Proverbs 26:11

11As a dog returns to his own vomit,
So a fool repeats his folly.
-Proverbs 26:11

This has served as a reminder for me for years. I remember as a kid watching my dog throw up and lick it back up. It caused a nasty cycle of the dog throwing back up and continuing to go to it. It was so off-putting for me that when I had later come across this verse, it made me realize how we should view folly. I have met no man, woman, or child who would think vomit is appetizing. Yet I have met many who delight in their foolishness. The issue we run into is a lack of perspective. We fail to call sin for what it is or foolishness for what it is. We are called to be those who walk according to wisdom, yet foolishness is held so close to our hearts. We must cling to the Lord to be our wisdom. Let us hasten to His word that we can break the cycle of returning to foolishness. May we learn how vile folly truly is.
