Proverbs 26:13-16
13The lazy man says, “There is a lion in the road!
A fierce lion is in the streets!”
14As a door turns on its hinges,
So does the lazy man on his bed.
15The lazy man buries his hand in the bowl;
It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth.
16The lazy man is wiser in his own eyes
Than seven men who can answer sensibly.
-Proverbs 26:13-16
Laziness is a direct enemy to us. It calls for us to make excuses to not go about and do things, even to the point of exaggeration. The lazy man stays behind to toss and turn on their beds simply because of the hope of comfort. He provides not, even having the ability to do so, exclusively because it wearies him. The worst part of the man who immerses himself in his laziness is that he is convinced that the is doing the right thing by being lazy. He is accustomed to his comforts and that is what drives him. Even by the counsel of seven sensible men, he does not turn his ways. We need to be cautious of our comforts and how those drive us. It should be the Lord that takes us from place to place. We may be extremely uncomfortable from time to time, but we will grow substantially as we put our trust whole heartedly in the Lord.
